Elmhurst is directly east of us — our shop sits just across the line in Villa Park, so a job in Elmhurst is a few minutes down the road, not a route we squeeze in when we're passing through. When we say we'll be by, we mean it, because we're already right here.
The name isn't an accident. Elmhurst was named for a stand of elm trees, and better than a century later it's still a town that runs on its canopy — big lots, mature trees, and the kind of curb appeal that makes a property worth what it's worth. A lot of those old trees have outlived the companies that were supposed to be caring for them, and the newer teardown-and-rebuild homes going up around town come with their own challenge: protecting what's mature while landscaping around fresh construction.
That's squarely our work. Cutting Edge started with a father and son — Joe Fedele spent 38 years with the City of Chicago Bureau of Forestry and retired as District Superintendent — and in a town literally named after trees, that background isn't a bullet point. It's the reason to call us instead of a crew that treats every tree like a hedge. Three generations run these trucks now, and Elmhurst has been in our backyard the whole time.
