The Right Material, the Right Amount, On Time

Sometimes you don't need a crew. You need a clean load of the right material, dropped where you can actually reach it.
You've got the weekend, the wheelbarrow, and a plan. What you don't have is two yards of mulch sitting in the driveway, and a trip to the garden center in a sedan isn't going to fix that. Sometimes the whole job is just getting the right material to the right spot — and that's a service in itself.
Cutting Edge delivers bulk landscape materials across DuPage County — mulch, soil, stone, gravel, and more — in the quantity you actually need, dropped where you tell us. Family-owned and based in Villa Park, we've been hauling this stuff for over 20 years, which mostly means your delivery shows up when we say it will instead of stranding your project halfway through a Saturday.
And if moving it yourself isn't the plan after all, we install most of these materials too. Plenty of customers start out thinking they'll spread it themselves and decide partway through that they'd rather we just finish it.
Mulch. Hardwood mulch for beds and around trees and shrubs — suppresses weeds, holds moisture, finishes a property clean.
Wood chips. Coarser and longer-lasting than mulch, well suited to natural areas, pathways, and spots you'd rather not re-do every year.
Topsoil. Quality screened topsoil for filling low spots, leveling, building up beds, or prepping ground for seed or sod. The foundation everything else grows in.
Decorative stone. A range of sizes and colors for beds, borders, dry creek beds, and low-maintenance ground cover where you're done mulching every season.
Gravel. Crushed gravel and aggregate for driveways, pads, drainage bases, and walkways — the hard-working material for anything that needs a stable base.
Compost. Nutrient-rich compost for amending tired soil, top-dressing beds, and giving new plantings the head start they need.
This is where most DIY material orders go sideways. Under-order and you're making a second trip — or a second order — to finish the job. Over-order and you've got a pile in the driveway you're now stuck spreading somewhere. Tell us the project and we'll help you figure out how much you actually need before the truck loads up. Twenty years of this means we're usually right.
We deliver by the load and drop it in an accessible spot you choose — the driveway, the side yard, wherever you can get a wheelbarrow to it. If you'd rather skip the wheelbarrow entirely, we install most of these materials too, and we'll quote delivery and installation together so you're comparing the real numbers. Already know you want it spread? Our Mulch & Topsoil and Decorative Stone pages cover the full install.
Bulk material is deceptively easy to get wrong. People order by guesswork and end up short, or order by overcaution and end up with a mountain. They get a material delivered that's wrong for the job — fine gravel where they needed a clean base, plain topsoil where they needed a compost blend.
Twenty-plus years of moving material across DuPage County means we don't guess. We know how much stone a border really takes, what depth a topsoil job needs to actually fix the problem, and what "two yards of mulch" looks like once it's on the ground. You get the right material, the right amount, and a delivery that arrives on schedule — so your weekend project stays a weekend project.
